St. Pius X is one of the Billings religious congregations, and over 1,400 volunteers in the Billings community provide hospitality through Family Promise for families with children who are experiencing the distress of homelessness at this point in their lives.
Each family is carefully screened before becoming a guest family. Family Promise’s goals are to help families obtain housing and stability. We provide free lodging, meals, and a safe environment for up to four families from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. daily for one week. Our location during host week is the St. Pius X Youth Center. Our next host week is November 1-7.
If you’re ready to volunteer, there are several ways to get involved:
Dinner Host
Prepare a meal at home, bring it to the Youth Center, and have dinner with the guest families. This is an hour-long commitment from 5:30-6:30 pm on your selected day.

Evening Host
Enjoy spending time with others? Evening Hosts visit with families and play with the children from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.

Overnight Host
Overnight Hosts provide a welcoming and secure presence at the Youth Center from 8:30 pm – 6:00 am. Most of the shift is spent sleeping, and volunteers are provided with a private sleeping area. This role can also be shared with a spouse, friend, or family member. Your presence helps provide comfort and support should a need arise during the night.
